hi i'm shaun!

As a bride to be I’m sure you're wanting to find out who I am, what makes me tick and a bit about the guy behind the camera. Well first and foremost, I’m a husband and father. *See wife Megan and our son Finn below* based in Durban. These roles fill my life with much happiness, and although I’m far from perfect, my approach to handling both is with great gusto and positivity. I’m a glass half full kind of guy.

When I’m not spending time with my little family I’m either taking photos or video, sitting at my computer editing, or trying to squeeze in a bit of exercise. Becoming a Dad I quickly realised there are not enough hours in the day to fit it all in haha! I enjoy cycling, or getting up early and running with a bunch of friends. Amazing what you can achieve in a day if you up early!

As with most creators I started down this path by accident with no intention of taking it full time. It began with taking snapshots of family and friends at birthday parties with basically a point and shoot camera. I didn't have this goal written down of becoming a full time photographer/videographer or anything like that. It kind of progressed naturally. One thing led to another and I ended up here. Taking photos and shooting video for a living. Pretty amazing job if I do say so myself! I often pinch myself when on shoots or capturing a couple's wedding that this is my job and how lucky I am. For me weddings are the epitome of human interactions and therefore the field I decided to specialise in. It's an incredible challenge with no two weddings being the same. I thrive on the meeting new people, and my as wife will tell you, I'm a total extrovert!

Being able to also offer videography I think not only stands me apart in a very talented field, but it also lets me diversify and challenge myself. I not only shoot weddings, but also commercials and marketing material for companies. In this time of the internet and social media, people are always looking for high quality video.

So to round things off… If I sound like someone you'd like to have along at your wedding, and you think you might like a photographer/videographer with ninja flexibility and skills for your wedding day, then why not DROP ME AN EMAIL. Lets meet up over coffee. I’ll Zapper so its not awkward when it comes to the bill.

work/life balance

I'm often asked what its like working on weekends. For those that work weekday jobs the weekend is a sacred time. However because my days are flexible I don't really see it as five days of work plus then another day of work. I'll shoot on a Saturday, but then take Monday as chilled. However holidays and time off are very important to us as a family. Weddings always take preference as they are booked far in advance, so we holiday kind of spontaneously or on a long weekend if its free. Camping and spending a couple days in the Berg with family are always a go to. It's amazing how just a couple days waking up in a new surrounding and breaking out of routine can turn you into a better human:)
